Event Recap: Turning Our Care Inward at "Make It Matter"

On the afternoon before Mother’s Day, the Be Embraced community gathered for Make It Matter, an intimate, vibrant, and empowering event designed to support women’s well-being from the inside out. As a weekend dedicated to nurturing others approached, this afternoon served as a gentle yet powerful invitation for the women in attendance to turn that care inward—honoring their bodies, their health, and their inner truth.

Moving Out of Survival Mode

We began the afternoon with Jamie Olafson, a dedicated nutritionist passionate about helping women achieve balance, nourishment, and vitality. Jamie brought a light, warm, and holistic approach to the room, guiding us through practical tools to understand our bodies' unique needs. From managing stress and inflammation to balancing hormones, she provided simple, hands-on strategies to create sustainable lifestyle changes.

What made Jamie’s presentation truly unforgettable was her vulnerability. She shared stories from her own childhood, explaining how those early experiences moved her to completely transform her life and the lives of her children.

Aligning Our Inner Truth

The second half of the afternoon was led by Jivi Saran, who explored the concept of Voice Coherence: Aligning the Inner Truth with the Outer Expression. Drawing from her deep expertise in conscious leadership, Jivi invited us to reconnect with our authentic voices, effectively bridging the gap between what we truly feel and what we express to the world. She showed us how our voices can become powerful tools for personal transformation and leadership when we speak from a place of clarity.

Jivi shared a harrowing turning point from her own life: a time when she ignored her body’s warning signs so severely that she physically crashed from sepsis right at her workplace.

A Shared Resonance: Recognizing Our Unique Stories

The impact of the presentations was felt deeply across the room, extending even to the event's organizers. For Gabriela Boeira, a Be Embraced volunteer and coordinator of the newsletter, the speakers' willingness to share their personal struggles struck a profound chord.

When Jamie shared her childhood experiences and the pivotal moments that drove her to transform the health of her own family, it grounded the scientific data in real, human emotion. This vulnerability set the stage for Jivi’s presentation, which carried an even more intense emotional weight. As Jivi described the harrowing experience of ignoring her body's warning signs until she physically collapsed from sepsis in her workplace, the narrative shifted from an educational lecture to a vital wake-up call.

For Gabriela, this specific testimonial was deeply relatable, instantly mirroring her own past experiences with professional burnout. The realization in the room was collective and clear: a woman's unique history and background heavily dictate how she handles stress and self-care today.

If the success of the afternoon could be distilled into a single, guiding truth, it is this: women must learn the critical importance of listening to their bodies, honoring their inner voices, and fiercely respecting their own limits.

We appreciate everyone who came as you were and left deeply connected. We look forward to walking alongside you at our next gathering!
